What does a bathroom renovation cost in Brisbane?
Here are our actual prices. Not a range so wide it tells you nothing, and not a number that changes once the walls are open.
A complete strip out and rebuild, with the shower, vanity and toilet staying in their existing positions. This is the majority of the bathrooms we build.
When the shower, vanity or toilet moves, the plumbing has to be relocated and the floor opened up. This is also the range for combining a bathroom and a separate toilet into one larger room.

Tiles, tapware, vanity and screen are listed as supply allowances so you can see exactly what has been set aside for each. Choose above your allowance and you pay the difference on that item only. The labour price does not move.
Why we are not the cheapest
You will find bathrooms advertised in Brisbane from around $18,500. That is usually a different job: a cosmetic refit over existing waterproofing, or a price that moves once demolition starts.

Every bathroom is waterproofed by a licensed applicator and certified, and you get that certificate along with plumbing and electrical compliance certificates at handover. In Queensland that paperwork matters for insurance and for resale.

Can you renovate a bathroom for $10,000?
Not a full renovation by a licensed builder in Brisbane. At $10,000 you are looking at a cosmetic update, resurfacing, new tapware, a new vanity, or a paint and re-grout, with the existing waterproofing and tiling left in place. A full strip out involves demolition, new waterproofing and certification, tiling, plumbing, electrical, plastering and fit off. The trade costs alone exceed $10,000 before anything is supplied.
What is the most expensive part of a bathroom renovation?
Labour, and within it the wet trades. Waterproofing and tiling carry the most risk and the most certification, and they cannot be rushed or skipped. Relocating plumbing is the single change that moves a price the most, which is why moving a shower or toilet takes a bathroom from around $29,000 to around $35,000.

Is the price fixed?
Yes. After a site visit you receive a fixed price with supply allowances listed separately. If you choose tiles or tapware above your allowance you pay the difference on that item and the labour price does not move. Anything genuinely unforeseeable, such as hidden water damage found at demolition, is photographed and priced as a written variation before any extra work happens.
How long does a bathroom renovation take?
Most Axena bathrooms take three to four weeks on site once materials are in hand. Lead times on made to order items such as shower screens and vanities sit outside that window, which is why selections are locked in before we start.
