A builder-run renovation, not a patch-up

A bathroom is the most unforgiving room in the house to renovate. It's where waterproofing, plumbing, electrical, tiling and joinery all meet in a few square metres — and where cut corners show up as leaks, mould and failed tiles two years later. That's why Axena bathrooms are run by a licensed builder, not a handyman or a single trade juggling mates.

We strip the room to the frame, fix what's hiding behind the old sheeting, and rebuild it in the right order: carpentry, rough-in plumbing and electrical, sheeting, certified waterproofing, screeding, tiling, fit-off, glass and final detail. You receive the waterproofing certificate and plumbing and electrical compliance certificates at handover — the paperwork that protects you at insurance and resale time.

Because we hold a QBCC open builder licence, we can also do what bathroom-only outfits can't: move walls, enlarge windows, relocate the bathroom entirely, or fold an ensuite and walk-in-robe into the plan.

How your bathroom comes together

1. Site visit & scope

We walk the room with you, measure, and talk honestly about what's worth doing — and what isn't. You get a detailed, fixed-price quote with allowances for tiles and fixtures spelled out line by line.

2. Selections

Tiles, tapware, vanity, screens and lighting — locked in before we start, so there are no mid-job surprises and no blown budgets.

3. The build

Typically 3–4 weeks on site. Demolition, carpentry, plumbing and electrical rough-in, waterproofing with certification, tiling, fit-off and glass — sequenced by us, done once, done right.

4. Handover

A detailed walkthrough, compliance certificates in your hand, and a clean site. We stay available through the defects liability period — and answer the phone after it, too.

What does a bathroom renovation cost in Brisbane?

As a guide, most complete bathroom renovations in Brisbane land between $20,000 and $50,000 — the spread comes down to size, whether plumbing moves, and the tiles and fixtures you choose. A compact family bathroom with fittings kept in place sits at the lower end; a full ensuite rebuild with a walk-in shower, floor-to-ceiling tiling and premium stone runs higher.

Those numbers are indicative only — every Axena bathroom is quoted as a fixed price after a site visit, with supply allowances itemised so you can see exactly where the money goes and adjust selections to suit the budget.

Common questions

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

Most Axena bathrooms take 3–4 weeks on site once materials are in hand. We'll give you a construction timeframe with your quote — and we sequence trades ourselves, so the job doesn't stall waiting for the next person. Lead times on made-to-order items like shower screens and vanities sit outside that window, which is why selections are locked in before we start.

Do I get a waterproofing certificate?

Yes — always. Waterproofing is installed by a licensed applicator and certified, and you receive the certificate along with plumbing and electrical compliance certificates at handover. In Queensland this paperwork matters for insurance and resale, and no reputable builder should hand over a bathroom without it.

Can you move the toilet, shower or walls?

Yes. Because Axena holds a QBCC open builder licence we can reconfigure the whole room — move fixtures, remove or build walls, enlarge windows, or combine a bathroom and separate toilet into one larger space. Plumbing relocations add cost, and we'll tell you upfront whether the result justifies it.

Is the quote really fixed?

Yes. After a site visit you receive a fixed price with supply allowances itemised. If you choose tiles or tapware above your allowance, you simply pay the difference on the item — the labour price doesn't move. Anything genuinely unforeseeable (like hidden water damage found at demolition) is documented with photos and priced as a written variation before any extra work happens.

Can we stay in the house during the renovation?

Almost everyone does. We contain dust, protect floors along the access route, and keep a second toilet or temporary arrangement usable wherever possible. If it's your only bathroom, we'll plan the sequence to keep downtime to a minimum and give you honest dates.

Do you handle all the trades?

Yes — demolition, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, tiling, glass and joinery are all coordinated by us under the one licence and the one fixed price. You never have to chase a tradie yourself.

Start with a site visit and a fixed price.

Tell us what you're planning. We'll walk the space with you, talk through options honestly, and quote the whole job — in writing.
